Finished!

One thing that I have always wanted to do is read the entire Bible.  I was saved on October 16th, 1993 when I was in middle school by a friend named Candice Shubert.  I have heard all the usual stories and done most studies involving the more popular books of the Bible (Proverbs, Genesis, Romans, etc)...but have not read the entire thing.  I must pause here to also say that I am really not a "reader" in general.  I do not prefer to snuggle up with a good book like Charles or sister Mendy.  I am a slow reader and for that alone, just not a typical reader.  Over a year ago, our church proposed that the church body all participate in a challenge to "read the Bible in a year".  So, the church posted a year long schedule involving chronological readings every day for a year.  The challenge started January 7th of 2012.  As of this morning at 6:45am, I FINISHED!!  I was actually supposed to finish about 7 weeks ago, but like I said...I am a slow reader!  I need time to really process and think about the readings.  I didn't give up, even when I was at times 2 weeks behind.  So, I am proud to say I have actually read the Bible cover to cover!  Words are never enough to sum up what I learned, or what the larger picture is.  It was shocking how I could laugh, get angry, and cry all while reading the same book.  I learned so many things about why I believe what I do, what I need to work on as a person, and the history behind our religion.  I can only end by saying I cannot believe I did not read it sooner!  It is a book that will change your way of thinking and life forever.

Some things Cade says...

- "My Church's name is school"
- "Mommy, you are wearing me out!"
- "I love you dearest Mommy" (while patting my face)
- "My friend is very nervous"
- "Look!  It's a car parade!" (while pointing to the balloons at the car dealership)
- "Thank you for cooking dinner, it was DE-licious"
- "This booger wants to play with me"
- "Baylor likes dirty food cause he only eats food off the floor" (Poor dog!)
- "Congratulations Gamee!" (while Gamee was completing a puzzle)
- "I love it when Caelin balances stuff, it's so beautiful" (while Caelin was doing tricks with all her pacifiers)
- "Baylor woke up for his own parade too!" (Cade was excited for his parade at school, and even more excited for Baylor that day!)
- "That's called hot medicine" (after we put orajel in his mouth for an ulcer)

Lizzy's Bachelorette Weekend

This past weekend I was blessed to spend it in Spicewood, TX in the Hill Country with my BFF Lizzy and friends.  We rented a huge 4 bedroom estate in the middle of no where and did nothing but laugh, drink wine, look at pictures, and cook!  Friday night everyone drove/flew in from Houston/Dallas/Temple/FL.  We enjoyed a BBQ dinner and seeing everyone together.  Shortly after dinner, we showered Lizzy with lingerie and cake.  We stayed up late talking, laughing and getting dance lessons (thank you Julia and Amy).  Somehow we all managed to sleep in and still make it to Spicewood Vineyards on Saturday morning for a wine tour/tasting.  The wine was so amazing and we even got wine straight from the barrels.  That afternoon was spent lounging around at the house and cooking steak/shrimp on the grill.  It was truly a perfect weekend with the girls and we are all so blessed to see Lizzy happily in love and with her soul mate David.  Can't wait to see her walk down the aisle in April!

FFA show

Today we went to the Annual KISD FFA show.  It was so nice this year in the new facility and we enjoyed seeing everyone and the animals.  Cade has ALWAYS been an animal lover and into petting (and attempting to ride) them.  Caelin has ALWAYS been skeptical and not really into even getting close to animals...until today!  It was so funny to watch her think about petting them and them watching up before giving in.  She was always brave when Cade went first.  However, with the bigger animals, Daddy HAD to be holding her and even then, she had the death grip on his shirt.  I was still proud of her for petting them.  My favorite part was when they both fed the turkey.  Now, that was funny.  Cade giggled and Caelin liked it until she figured out what was happening and then it was game over.  Cade was also convinced that we were going to buy a turkey to take home.  Sorry Cade, but that was NEVER in the plans for the day.  Cade also saw the auction taking place.  I thought he was listening, but then Cade said, "excuse me, but could he slow down so Daddy can buy me some chips?"  Some things are just more important.  Hehehehe!

My Angels

I love bed and bath time each night.  Somehow, it always turns in to somebody naked, crazy hairdo's or playing hide and seek (probably an attempt to keep from going to bed).  Nonetheless, I love it and tonight was no exception.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Valentine's was eventful this year to say the least.  Cade did not have the best day with some potty accidents that we haven't had in a long time.  I am hoping it was just due to the excitement of the day.  Gamee/Grampee had bought all the kids new outfits and Cade was excited to give away his "Superman Lollipops", and his teachers their "brownie points" gifts.  Caelin was a sweet little angel as always.  After dinner we gave them each a few small gifts and then lots of KISSES (my favorite part).  It was a great day of sharing love.

Not much going on...

Today after Church we had a relaxing day at the house.  For the first time in a long time, we had nothing we HAD to do.  What a difference that makes!  So, we got back in our comfy clothes and watched movies, snacked a lot, finished Cade's Valentines for his class on Thursday, and played "fort" in Caelin's room with her mattress and a tent.  Among it all, we even managed to do 3 loads of laundry, wash bed sheets (even Baylor's), and all the mats in the house.  It was quit an eventful day for "nothing going on!"  I will try to snap pics next time we have our "fort" up...but I did manage to get pics of Cade making his Valentine's.  I am also posting a few random pics of my angels sleeping, Cade & Caelin battling out a mean game of Hungry Hungry Hippos on my iPad, and Caelin's hands after she got them painted.  My princess LOVES her nails painted!  Since Caelin did not take a long nap today (Cade is now out of the nap stage), we are topping off our evening by putting the kids in bed early and are watching a movie together.  Thank you Lord for this precious Sunday with our family and not much going on...

Dinner in Dallas

We were blessed to enjoy an overnight stay in Dallas for a dinner party with my Best Friend Lizzy.  Before I go any farther, THANKS AGAIN Grampee/Gamee for the awesome overnight childcare!  We really are so blessed to have this blessing poured onto us.  The dinner party was a celebration of the upcoming marriage of David and Lizzy in April.  It was a swank little dinner on the 17th floor of the Crescent Hotel overlooking Dallas.  The food and live jazz band were amazing and we were honored to be spoiled in this way.  We enjoyed dinner, wine, and good friends!  After a great night sleep, David brought us all brunch from a local restaurant named EatZi's before we headed out to church.  The church was beautiful and we enjoyed the opportunity to see where they would be married in just a few months.  After church we headed back to see our little munchkins and the Super Bowl (by the way, congrats to the Baltimore Ravens for beating the 49ers).  Thank you Lord for the relaxing and recharging weekend!
