Tomball German Fest

Today we ventured to downtown Tomball for the Annual German Festival.  We enjoyed the live music, free shows, Caelin dancing in the water fountain, and ice cream of course!  Cade cracked me up as he ordered a "large strawberry milkshake".  This came right after we asked Caelin what kind of scoop she wanted.  Get it?  He knew RIGHT AWAY he didn't want just one lousy scoop.  Check out the picture where Daddy showed him the shake below...priceless.  Caelin of course picked her usual strawberry with sprinkles.  It was a fun day and we enjoyed some warmer weather and SUN!

Practice makes perfect

Not that we are competitive AT ALL around here, but we always enjoy the "practice" egg hunts around our house.  Not sure whether we are teaching our kids to be able to give Uncle Christopher a run for his money, or just having fun...but it always makes us smile.  Our first "practice hunt" came in the form of cascarones eggs this year.  Cade saw them at Wal-Mart.  Oh boy.  I did laugh as he and Caelin carefully counted their egg piles after the hunt to be sure they had equal eggs to smash.  Equality is important folks.

Paving the way...

One of Charles' Christmas gifts arrived the other day!  It was a replica brick of his brick that will be laid at the new Baylor Stadium!  We need to get a case for our brick, but here is a quick view of it from inside the box!  Now I guess the challenge will be to locate the real one at our first Baylor FB game in August, the new stadium is gonna be HUGE.

Geocaching in Tomball

Today we decided to pack snacks and head out for a Geocaching adventure in Tomball.  If you are not familiar with Geocaching, you should definitely check it out (geocaching.com).  It is free fun for all ages and the kids love "searching for treasure" around town.  It is also a great way to "trade toys" that they are tired of playing with.  My favorite treasure was the HUGE tank at the VFW hall in Tomball.  Now that was a real treasure.  We also walked around and saw the plane on the property as well.  Here are a few pictures of our afternoon.

Theater time...Mr. Peabody and Sherman

Our adventure today led us to an afternoon movie with Gamee/Grampee and then dinner at Red Robin.  We had a blast and of course ate WAY TOO MUCH popcorn!

Houston Rodeo

Did I mention the Rodeo is a big deal in Houston?  Hehehe, so today we ventured downtown to partake in the fun!  Cade said he was looking forward to the tractors and Caelin said she wanted to see the baby animals.  We started out in Kid Country where the kids got to learn a day on the farm.  Their favorite part was caching in their money for a treat.  Cade went for the fruit roll-up, and Caelin had her eye on the cheese crackers.  Next, we moved on to the petting zoo part.  Cade of course has always loved this part and ran right in talking to all the animals.  Caelin was much more reserved since most of the animals were her size.  She did NOT like the goat that kept chewing on my shirt.  She screamed at it, and when it turned around and looked at her, she ran the other way straight to Daddy's arms!  Ha!  She did however warm up once she spotted the baby animals.  This year they had the usual goat, deer, chickens, sheep, llama and pig.  I was surprised to see some new animals like the donkey, calf, and kangaroo.  After that, we moved on to the rides.  Cade picked the swings (our adventure kid), and Caelin was SO EXCITED to ride the PINK elephant.  What I learned was Caelin had the height, but due to age, I had to squeeze in and ride the elephant with her.  AND THEN, some poor Mom couldn't ride with her daughter due to a newborn, so I invited our new friend Rachel to ride with us.  It was such an honor to squeeze into a pink elephant with two 2 year olds.  Of course the day wasn't complete without seeing all the big animals inside and seeing the birthing center with the baby animals.  Finally, we had to have a funnel cake.  I am not sure the kids have ever had a funnel cake, but it was a BIG hit!  I think it was gone in 2 minutes flat.  It was a great day with perfect weather again to be outdoors in Texas.  After the Zoo yesterday and the Rodeo today, I think we will be sleeping in and having a pajama morning tomorrow.

On a side note, I would like to say that BOTH kids made it through the Zoo and Rodeo adventures with no potty accidents!!  I hope I am not jinxing it, but I think we are on the downhill ride of potty training!

Zany Zoo Day

Today we ventured to the Houston Zoo!  It was a blast once we conquered the parking situation.  We met up with 4 other families in our Sunday School class and wound up running into 5 other families we knew.  So, it felt like a small world today at the Zoo.  It was a great time with friends, and I love watching the faces of Cade/Caelin and their wonder at some of the animals.  The biggest hits of the day were the Chimpanzee's, Elephants, and Cats (leopard, lion, tigers, etc).  The cats were all sleeping mostly way up high in cages on ledges, so it took us a while to find them at times.  The Chimpanzee's also came and sat next to Cade while he was at the window, and he thought that was awesome.  He was staring at their hands and feet and said "they look just like mine!"...and he was right!  They also had a 4D Sponge Bob Movie which was a hit around 2pm when we were all tuckered out and needing a break from the sun.  I asked Cade what his favorite part of the day was and it was definitely the Sponge Bob Movie.  When I asked Caelin, she said "all the babies".  I am assuming she means the baby giraffe and elephant.  Thank you Lord for the perfect weather today and the special time with friends and family!
