Woodtrace End of Year Splash Bash

Our neighborhood always hosts an end of the school year "Splash Bash".  This year I was the organizer for the event as part of the Woodtrace Social Committee.  It was fun to see the kids swim, dance to music, eat popsicles and have that care free summer feel.  I pray this summer brings lots of relaxation and recharging.

School's out for summer!

We made it...so long 3rd and 5th grade!  We celebrated with fireworks after the kids got off the bus and then both kids had sleepovers at friends to celebrate.  Gamee even got them with silly string a few days later.  So very proud of these two for keeping up with school work and staying positive during this unique school year. Now...BRING ON SUMMER!

Bear Update

About a month ago on April 21st, we took Bear in to see Dr. Eslick due to lethargy, rapid weight loss, darkened urine, decreased appetite and black tar like diarrhea.  When we had called Dr. Osborn (dermatologist), she recommended we see our regular vet to get rapid tests for blood work.  We are so glad we did.  The blood work showed that Bear had liver failure, jaundice (eyes/gums), and elevated blood sugars.  We were devastated, but my heart had a sense of peace that it was all going to be ok.  We started Bear on a new liver and antibiotic medications, received fluid injections and began praying. Thankfully, during the last month, his eyes were stable and the entropion surgery has healed well.  Fast forward to today, and his bloodwork came back all normal with no elevated blood counts!  Doc feels like there may have been a small infection in the ducts of the liver (GGT) that caused an infection for the liver.  Praise God for answering our prayers and this was not something else.  Bear's diagnosis of Uveodermatological Syndrome (UDS or VKH in humans) continues to keep up on our toes...but we are always here for our furry baby.

A belated celebration

We had the best weekend celebrating Mom for a belated BD and Mother's Day! It is hard living so far away on special occasions, but we find a way to enjoy every moment when we are together. We shopped and had a wine tasting on the Georgetown Square, ate ice cream, had pedicures, and Charles cooked chowder with sweet cornbread since it was raining. So thankful for the memories and that God blessed me with an amazing Mom!
