Cade’s 1st Track

And so it begins!  Cade started track season with a meet at THS where he threw the shot put and discus.  In both events he threw further than he did last year.  Although he didn’t place, he was happy being with the team and competing.  Cade said the thing he is most looking forward to during the season is improving himself physically and working on his form.

No more stitches!

Today was the 12th day after Bear's eye removal surgery. He received a great report from his Opthamologist and they removed all stitches. He has been a warrior through it all and truly appears much happier now. He no longer has to have 5 different daily eye drops or struggle with eye infections for eyes that are not functioning. The journey of losing his sight began in May 2019 (almost 5 years ago) when he was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune that attacks his soft tissue cells (skin/eyes). We are so thankful that his vision loss was over time so that we could teach him what he needed to know in navigating his new world. Not all animals get that luxury. He did have a period of depression the first month or so after going completely blind, but recovered once he figured out we were not giving up on him. He has learned commands that most animals will never know like stop, up, down, left, right. As long as our furniture remains in the same place, he is confident enough to trot around. He goes up/down stairs, plays fetch in his own way, and has an incredible sense of smell. The point of all this is that we shouldn't feel bad because he can't do something like most other animals can. We should celebrate that God gave him countless other talents and he joyfully uses those talents he does have. He is perfectly imperfect and we wouldn't have it any other way!
