Baylor Homecoming and meeting Jim!!

Happy Homecoming weekend Baylor Nation!  The best part of this years homecoming is seeing my best friend of almost 30 years.  Aunt Lizzy drove into town on Friday with baby Thomas and we had a blast eating at Vitek’s, shopping at the Magnolia, and taking pictures with the kids!  When Aunt Lizzy and Thomas had to leave to head home to Dallas, we took the opportunity to explore the campus for a few hours before the pep rally and bonfire.  We walked through our old buildings, swung on the green/yellow swings, geocached around campus, enjoyed ice cream/common grounds, and ate in the “SUB” on campus for dinner.  We were surprised the kids were still hanging in there for the pep rally, and Caelin only snoozed for about 10 minutes.  The loved watching the bonfire…although it got hot pretty fast.  After such a long day, we were blessed that we only had to drive 1.5 hours back to Nana’s house.  What a perfect day and perfect weather!

When we woke up Saturday morning, the kids were excited to spend the day getting spoiled by Nana while Charles and I went to the afternoon FB game back in Waco.  It was a great game and we were so happy the Bears took another win and are currently undefeated with 6-0.  When we got home Sat night, we hit the beds early and got ready for an eventful Sunday.

I had been waiting for Sunday to come all week.  First, we celebrated Mackenzie’s 10th BD (a few days late) with build your own breakfast omelets at Nana’s.  Then, we all packed up and went to the Pflugerville park where we met Jim (Baylor’s only surviving liter mate) and his owner Branch.  There were 9 pups in his litter and Baylor and Jim were the 1st/9th born. Jim looks JUST LIKE our Baylor. He has caramel colored eyes, leans in on your thighs for love, and loves to be kissed on his cheek where Baylor did. We giggled as Jim currently has a mohawk and is very handsome in it. Needless to say, we loved on him for a solid hour and our hearts felt full afterward. Such a blessing during this tough time. It has been 2 weeks without our Baylor and life is still different without him and I know it will always be. However, thank you to his owner Branch for some "furry baby therapy" today!  One other thing we laughed about is how Mendy and I dressed alike without planning it (again).  Ha!
