Newest Principal of Tomball Connections Academy!

Amidst the news of surgery and a rough week, we had wonderful news that Charles was selected as the newest Principal of the Tomball Connections Academy.  This position allows him to utilize his strengths in Administration, Special Education and behavior management. As part of this position, he will oversee 3 different programs for Tomball ISD: District Alternative Education Program, Success Academy (credit recovery program for students needing to catch up to graduate), and the Community Connections program (serving students with special needs that are ages 18 and up).  With his Admin experience at all levels and the fact that he helped start the 18+ programs 7 years ago, this job feels like it was created specifically for him.  God has been faithful and we are all honored to watch Charles receive his dream job.  With the end of the school year and surgery on the horizon, we had to reroute and quickly shift to cleaning out his current office to be ready for the summer.  I know saying goodbye to Tomball Intermediate is hard, but the friendships and students he connected with with always be there.  This week sure has brought a lot of moments to pivot, but we are grateful for them all.  Congrats to TISD for gaining a wonderful new Principal.  We know he will bless EVERY student he comes into contact with and change lives in this new role!

No more kickball...

This past week has been a whirlwind and one of the toughest in quite some time. On the last day of school at TIS (May 21st), we traditionally end the year with a staff vs student kickball game against the 5th graders.  After a solid kick and reaching base, I was waiting for the next batter when a foul ball was hit. I started jogging toward second base and attempted to stop and return to first, but my left foot stopped while my right kept moving, sending me crashing down with all of my weight onto my left knee. The pain was immediate, and the swelling came quickly. Following an Xray, MRI, orthopedic doctor (Dr. O’Brien), and now an orthopedic surgeon (Dr. Seaberg)...we learned that my left quad tendon had a grade 3 tear meaning it was completely torn off my kneecap. I knew from the pain that the injury would likely require surgery and today it was confirmed.  Dr. Seaberg let us know that the surgery needed to happen quickly and scheduled it for June 2. While the injury was certainly not how I envisioned ending the school year, there was at least one bright spot—we still managed to win the game 7-1. Sometimes life changes in an instant, and now the focus shifts to beginning the road to recovery during these summer months.

Last Day of School!

These last few weeks have been a whirlwind of blessings. Cade conquered getting his drivers license, SAT/AP exams, spring orchestra concert, and committing to 5 days/week for football workouts.  Caelin finished strong with prepping for HS athletics next year, the Cougar Elite award at her Athletic Banquet, and being named one of the A+ students for 8th grade at the district level. Their dedication to all the things they love while maintaining straight A's is a beautiful thing to witness. It is a true joy to watch others recognize their talents and we are so honored to have a front row seat on their journeys.  What a successful year it has been for both of them in 8th/10th grades. Onward to summer and making memories!

Caelin’s Step Up Ceremony

Tomball Junior High has a step up ceremony each year for the 8th graders moving on to High School.  Even amidst all the ceremonies and close of the school year in the last few weeks, I don't think it hit me till tonight.  Hearing the keynote speaker, Jeff Bailey, speak about the High School years ahead made me tear up.  I do feel proud, but I also have sadness in my heart.  My baby girl is no longer a baby and this officially means I have 2 high schoolers.  What a year it has been for Caelin!  From Cross Country to A+ grades all year, to high jump, to winning yearbook cover, to new friends and more...she has excelled.  I will always be her biggest (and loudest) cheerleader.  Here she comes Tomball High School!
