Bearkat Bash

Klein HS does their annual Bearkat Bash and it is a family tradition to always support our schools and the High School Ehrhardt feeds into.  So, this year Charles ran the 5K and Cade ran the 1K again.  Last year did not go so well as he had just turned 3 and was NOT in to running.  Anyway, we had a brief chat in the car about it being for fun, and just trying our best.  Cade was SO EXCITED to be in a "race" and even Caelin kept yelling "Meeeee too!".  When we arrived, I thought Charles was going to run with him.  My heart sank a little as I watched my baby who just turned 4 yrs old running by himself.  Being so young (I think one of the youngest), he surprised me in so many way!  He NEVER stopped running.  More impressive than that was the fact that he was not upset to be alone.  I thought if he was in a group, it would be fine.  But the older kids quickly passed him up and left him alone running.  GULP!  I of course did the over protective Mom thing and ran across the field cheering him on.  At one point while I was taking pictures, he called out, "Hey Mom, I am just trying my best!"  That is when I began to tear up.  It was kind of one of those moments when you realize they are growing up and can fly a little on their own.  Not the easiest parent moments to go through, but I have never been prouder of Cade.  His confidence and self motivation to keep going even when others have left him, was so astonishing to me and I know Cade will do great things in life.  Throughout the race, Gamee and Caelin yelled for him as well.  Caelin just loves her brother (most of the time).  When he finished the race, I ran to hug him and told him how proud I was.  He told me, "Look Mom, I got a ribbon AND A BOTTLE OF WATER!"  There you have it everyone...case closed.  Congratulations Cade on running your first 1K.  We love you and are so proud!

Happy 34th Birthday Charles!

Today the love of my life turns 34.  Every girl dreams of a love so special that she can say the rest of her life is happy.  Well, I found mine.  Charles is the most loving friend, husband, father, coach, Principal, and everything else to our family.  He is thoughtful, loving, and kind to us all.  Today as we celebrate his special day, we want to say "WE LOVE YOU" and thank you for making our lives what they are today.

Here are some Birthday answers that Cade gave for Daddy's BD:
Why is today special for Daddy?   "It's his BD"
What do you think Daddy would want for his Birthday?  "I don't know you need to ask him"
What are you going to do to make his day special?  "Give him a Birthday spanking"
Should we sing Happy Birthday to him after dinner?  "Well, YES!"

Round Rock weekend

This weekend we were able to spend time in Round Rock with Nana/Papa and the cousins!  We had a blast and our visits are always so short.  Wish we lived closer!

Caelin's 1st Day of School!

Even though Caelin goes to childcare at the church on other days, today was her first day of SCHOOL (MDO).  She has been so excited getting boxes on the porch to open with her backpack, lunchbox, and nap-mat.  She loves to just rip everything out of the box and squeals when she sees them!  She has even worn her backpack around the house and says "owl" when looking for it.  She has quite the language skills.  So, last night her nap-mat arrived and we had fun trying it out and "pretending to sleep".  She was so funny and when finished helped roll it up and threw it over her shoulder.  She also helped pack her lunch and Cade's for school tomorrow.  Then, I started to pack an extra set of clothes and such in her backpack and she decided to help with that also.  What a helper...although I did take out the purse and 2 sets of shoes she packed when she wasn't looking!  This morning when she woke up, she immediately said "owl" and knew today was the big day.  At school she wore her own backpack and carried her lunch the whole way.  Even knew where to put her lunch when we got there.  Before walking in the room, she gave me a kiss and then walked right in and started playing.  She is just such a big girl.  I of course cried a little inside and then balled when I got to my car.  Not sure if it is the realization of my babies growing up, their level of independence, or just the amount of love I have for them.  It is just hard to believe we are where we are.  Regardless, they are happy tears and I am one proud Mama!

Cade's first day of school

Today went perfect with Cade's first day of school.  It was meant to be that they had a bin of legos in the corner.  My lil man just walked right in, stripped off his backpack and went straight to the Legos.  Well, I guess that was it folks!  When Gamee picked him up, Ms. Nancy stated he had a great day at school.  Cade reports that he enjoyed computer time the most and got to play two games.  He also said he saw "some old friends" at the playground (kids who are not in his class this year).  It would appear that he did not complete one of the art projects today, but that is nothing new...Cade is not typically into art.  So far so good and we can't wait to see how the rest of the week unfolds.  Caelin's meet the teacher is Thursday, so more pics to come for her big day!
