Relaxing Saturday as a Fam

Today was a blessing.  Everyone slept in late (well 9am), and then we made omelets to get our day started.  We did our Easter egg advent that told the story of Jesus from the last supper to the resurrection.  The kids always enjoy opening up each numbered egg and seeing what is inside.  Cade's favorite was the rock one as he always says he has to "work out with the egg first".  This is followed by him lifting the egg up and down and flexing his muscles.  Caelin loves the egg with the purple cloth in it.  Mainly cause she says "I love purple" and then claps when she opens it.  Regardless of the jokes and kid stories along the way, I take great joy in knowing our kids know that Easter is about Jesus and his resurrection and not so much the Easter bunny, eggs, candy, etc.  To hear Cade retell the story and watch him act it out, just makes me one proud Mommy!  Then we decided to play outside for a bit which involved hunting plastic eggs (again), slip and slide, and water games with the hose.  This is where I pause to say our sweet little Caelin can have a very strong attitude.  Cade and Caelin have grown to be best friends most of the time, but even best friends have their spats.  At one point Caelin ran up to Cade, screamed, "No you get wet", and shoved the water in his face.  But don't worry, Cade fought back by launching a plastic egg at her head as soon as the water cleared his eyes.  I even caught Caelin pointing and laughing at Cade when he attempted the slip and slide and wound up doing a belly flop.  Oh how I love these two little ones.  Of course Baylor was in the midst of it all.  He ran around trying to protect them (from each other I guess), and loved getting wet in the process.  Once we had enough water play, we came inside for dinner and to make homemade ice cream from leftover strawberries.  Daddy also enjoyed microwaving peeps and showing the kids how big they grow.  Sometimes I think I have 3 kids!  We finished up our evening with reading the Easter story from the children's Bible and then watched the Veggie Tales Easter movie.  It was a fun filled day and needless to say our house is extremely quiet now (except for the occasional snoring).  Can't wait to have more fun tomorrow and spend family time with everyone on the Hall side.  Happy Easter!

Good Friday

We woke up today and started out for a day of adventures.  First we decided to head out to Plantersville, TX where we were going to pick strawberries.  We knew there were plenty based on their website and we were armed and ready!  On our way we stopped to attempt annual bluebonnet pics.  Well, that was a definite disaster.  We stopped for about 10 minutes and I think we were all done about 5 minutes in.  The kids either "were hot", "the sun is touching me", "I AM looking at you" (as they look at the ground), and my favorite "I don't even want to see ants again for the rest of my lives".  Uh, ok.  So, that was short lived, but we did have fun at Jollisant Farms picking strawberries!  Cade found one he thought looked like a mustache and Caelin was geared up and ready to pick every single one (ripe or not ripe).  So, $25 later, we walked out with some awesome strawberries and fun.  On the way home we took time to stop and pet some horses on our way to Magnolia Smokehouse.  We ate on benches outside and enjoyed BBQ while the kids ate the longest corndogs ever.  It was so funny to watch them eat.  When we finally made it home, we made strawberry smoothies for the kids and homemade strawberry margaritas for us.  Then we took our drinks outside and played in the yard getting in some extra sunshine.  Best part is after a long day, today is Friday, which is Family movie night!  So, we still have a fun night of movies, PJ's, strawberry ice cream, and snuggling ahead!  Happy Good Friday everyone!

Strength and Unity Easter party

We literally have the BEST Sunday School Class at CFBC.  Our class name is called Strength and Unity.  Charles and Karl are the leaders and we learn so much about marriage and doing life together.  Even as we grow, we have the best friends and God loving service in our class.  Our class had our Easter celebration and egg hunt together last night and I am overwhelmed with love.  We had 88 people total with exactly half being kids!  We grilled out burgers/hotdogs, had 2 egg hunts for the kids, played washers, football, egg dying, coloring/crafts for the kids and just enjoyed "doing life".  What a blessing it is to have a group where you can share your heart.  Thank S&U for all the memories!

Mighty Mud Dash

Well, another 5K mud run for the books.  This one was probably the hardest with more obstacles similar to a Tough Mudder.  The 3 mile run included a rope swing, ditch crawls, over/under logs, vertical ladder climb, moguls, net climbs, rope crawl, and much more.  Lets just say we were tired!  Of course Grampee is always up for a challenge too, so the three of us did it together.  Can't wait for the next adventure!
