I volunteered again to host our neighborhood back to school bash. It was a busy afternoon as kids enjoyed seeing friends, swimming, music, meeting the administrators from surrounding schools, seeing our neighborhood bus and driver, eating popsicles and donating school supplies for those in need. It was a great way to say goodbye to summer and get prepared for school on Tuesday!
Tonight we were able to celebrate Cade's Birthday with Grampee at Shoguns. Watching the chef cook in front of us is always a favorite. Gamee wass still in Indiana helping to care for Aunt Linda, but we were so excited to Facetime with her during the cake and gifts. Gamee and Grampee surprised Cade with a Medovik cake. Of course our little foodie had tasted some at a Russian bakery in downtown tomball and fell in love with the honey layered cake. I think his favorite gift was probably the sriracha themed boxer underwear. Haha!
12 years ago our prayers were answered and God gave us our Cade. From the time he surprised us with his arrival, he has been an easy going kid with a servant's heart. He loves our Jesus and has faith that is wise beyond his years. He is truly one of a kind and has a gentle heart for helping others. He is not afraid to be different, constantly keeps us laughing with his jokes, and strives to make others smile. He loves long chapter books, Legos, playing the PS4, football, and riding bikes. He continues to say he wants to pursue being a Paleontologist when he grows up. We say the sky is the limit for his brilliant mind and determination. Even though he may pick on Caelin, he shows his love for her daily, and I am pretty confident he will always be her protector. Currently, our big boy is 5'3" tall and weighs around 150lbs. He is growing up to be tall just like his Daddy and certainly handsome with his red hair. We could not be prouder to say he is ours. Unfortunately, since he had football practice tonight, we celebrated at home with sushi and gifts. He loved his Lego sets, hat organizer, and new bike! Tomorrow, we get to meet Grampee for dinner at Shoguns to celebrate more! Happy Birthday to the one who made us parents 12 years ago and reminds us to be better versions of our self each day. We love you Cade Beatty!
Cade chose to celebrate his birthday by going to an outdoor air soft place with friends. Unfortunately, 2 friends could not attend as they were exposed or had Covid. So, Daddy took Cade, Carter and Parker to play a few rounds. They had a blast running the course and working in teams. Afterward, we all celebrated by eating lunch at Chili's. Such a fun day!

Luckily, our family has been able to stay healthy during the Covid Pandemic. However, on the drive home from Florida, we started noticing mild symptoms of Charles (sinus) and were notified that several people were testing positive from church camp. Cade had started getting a headache and what felt like sinuses with itchy eyes. At the time, Caelin and I felt fine. With research showing that Covid has a 7-10 day incubation period, we decided to get at home antigen tests at the Walgreens by our neighborhood. We all 4 took the at home tests. Charles, Cade, & Caelin tested positive which confirmed the theory that they received it from camp. We were all devastated to say the least. We immediately separated to 4 different bedrooms/bathrooms and there was a haze of Lysol all over the house. I decided to sign up to get a formal PCR test 2 days later since everyone else was positive and I just spent the entire week in Florida with them. Thankfully, both Cade and Caelin were hardly phased by it, leading us to believe it was the new Delta strand of Covid-19. They did have a few low grade fevers and were tired, but no symptoms that slowed them down much. Charles continued to have mild allergy type symptoms at this point. On Saturday, I woke up with a sore throat and went to take the PCR test. Ultimately, a few days later I was a confirmed positive. When I recieved my positive test, Charles was about 5 days into his symptoms and began having major sinus problems, congestion and fevers. We borrowed a oulse oximeter from neighbors and I took his O2 stats/temp every few hours. Around day 5 for me, I started feeling like I had the flu with whole body aches, light sensitivity, lethargic, upset stomach, loss of taste and smell, and fevers. The kids continued to do well and even felt like playing outside at times in the evenings (only with themselves to abide by social distancing recommendations). Around Day 8, I started feeling MUCH better (just a shortness of breath), but Charles seemed to be getting worse. The Doctor called in a steroid pack, but when that did not help, we would up going to a minor emergency clinic to get a chest xray to be certain. The chest Xray was not clear, so they sent us to the hospital for an MRI and additional Steroids/antibiotics. Finally, after about 10 days, Charles began to feel better and no longer had a fever. It was not a pleasant experience at all, but we are so blessed that we did not have it as bad as others and that Gamee/Grampee could keep Bear during this time to ensure he did not get it with his auto immune deficiencies. Now back to the land of the living!
