A day in the country

We were so excited to meet Mendy, Kennybug, Jax, and Nana in La Grange, TX for an afternoon at the Jersey Barnyard.  We enjoyed a tour with all the animals, bottle feeding calves, hayride through the country, and a picnic on the lawn.  After time on the farm, we headed home and stopped off at a winery to sample some local wines while the kids ran around.  Finally, we enjoyed family time together at our new house.  It was the first time everyone had seen our new house, so we were SUPER excited to show it off!  Even though they have to leave in the morning, we loved our short visit!

Career Day at school

Cade dressed as a paleontologist and Caelin was a "pop star" singer for Career day this year.  Special shout out to Gamee and Grampee for the outfits!

Cade's GT Showcase

We were so proud of Cade today at his GT Showcase for the district.  He was courageous and presented his project so well.  This year, he decided to study the periodic table, specifically the element Gallium.  Gamee/Grampee had bought some real gallium samples from Amazon, so Cade was able to use that in his presentation.  Since gallium is a metal that becomes a liquid at 85 degrees, Cade brought a heating pad and was able to show people how it melted, what it felt like, and how it could be remolded.  He had a lego man mold that he used to show the melting process.  Cade also had a PPT, notes and a game for other students to play.  We are so proud of how he shared his project and encouraged others to learn.  We could not be prouder of our sweet and smart angel.

We miss you Daddy

3 years ago today we said goodbye to Daddy. He was surrounded by friends and family as we said goodbye. This is by far the hardest thing to do when you hold the hand of someone you love and know you have to let them go. To celebrate, we had a family dinner with my Dad's brother older Brother Clayton and cousins in town.  It was such a fun time of celebration and laughs.  What I do know at the end of the night...we are blessed to have had a Dad like him and his legacy lives on DAILY in our lives. Not a day goes by that we are not reminded of him. Little things like notes from him in the closet, ladybugs landing on you, songs on radio, tax season (haha), and certain mannerisms in our kids. His memory lives on with papa stories and singing his favorite songs at bedtime. We all long for that one more hug, but smile knowing we will see him one day again. Until then, we are forced to pay for our own Starbucks, ha! Cheers to you Dad!

Goodbye Piney Way Drive

Today we said goodbye to our home of 15 years as we signed over papers. Many tears have been shed as it was never a house to us but a home. When we bought the house 15yrs ago, it was just the 2 of us. We brought Cade and Caelin home to this house and welcomed 2 fur babies in this house. We know every ding, paint mishap, and the stories behind the "not so perfect things" (like the slightly charred bottom of the microwave).  We left our favorite Bible verses atop each door frame of the rooms and are forever changed by the memories in this home.  Even though tears may flow, we celebrate our new home and all the memories to come. May God bless the new owners with this house just as we were blessed.
