Another 10K has been slayed!

Charles and I love to do these 10K mud runs.  They are just the right amount of fun and challenge for us!  Unfortunately, Charles could not run this time due to a knee injury.  Grampee was not as excited to get muddy like me, but he did AMAZING!  I was able to do the 40lb stone carry for half a mile and Grampee conquered the log balance beam.  We also enjoyed some climbing obstacles and getting in the lake.  We had such a good time!

Bear's Eyes

Thank God for miracles! Warning...long but rewarding post! A week ago we took Bear to the vet and thought we were dealing with allergies in both eyes. After 36 hours, Bear went completely blind. We took him to vet who gave us devastating news that he has Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA). This diagnosis would mean Bear would be blind for the rest of his life. Our hearts were shattered and we did not know what to do besides pray. We scheduled an apt with a Vet Opthamologist and were relieved when the Opthamologist let us know it was NOT PRA and that she believed he had a good chance of responding to steroids. The new diagnosis was bilateral retinal detachment and Uveitis. We did endless research, gave him lots of love, and prayed. Today, we found out that Bear has responded well and the Doc was shocked. In only a weeks time, one retina has reattached 100% and the other one is at 70%. The doc said it usually takes a month to see this type of progress and she anticipates a great recovery (not 100%, but functional vision). It has certainly been an exhausting week, but we are blessed beyond measure and are praising God for miracles.

Mother's Day

We are so blessed to have TWO Mother's that are true servants in all they do. I know Mom's do so many things without ever being recognized, and are the human form of grace in our lives. There is no way I could even list out the things my Mom did for me growing up. I know she prayed relentlessly for me, was there for every game and competition, and told me she loved me daily. I an reminded just how special she is as many of my friends still call her "Mama Parks". Then, God blessed me with a Mom-in-love that has treated me like a daughter since the day we met. She too is a servant example. I KNOW she also prayed for her children daily, could be seen at EVERY school/sport event, and told her children she loved them daily. I am truly in awe and don't deserve TWO Mom's!  Then, almost 10 years ago I earned my best title ever as "Mom". These two changed my life and are a constant reminder that life is made of all the small moments of joy. To celebrate, we went to Mia Bella's for brunch after church.  So much to be blessed for. Happy Mother's Day to all the women out there that mentor small ones and working daily to change the lives of others.
