First Driving Hour with Permit

It happened, hour #1 of driving practice is done.  We started with a prayer for safety and then Cade went on his first real driving experience with familiar turf—the neighborhood. He began in the dirt retention area, working on driving loops, turn signals, and smooth stops.  Then, it was time for the neighborhood loop. Cade handled it like a champ, making impressive progress for a first-timer. There was just one minor hiccup: he missed the same stop sign twice. Apparently, that stop sign wasn’t as memorable as we’d hoped!  Overall, Cade did a fantastic job, and we're confident he'll soon conquer those elusive stop signs with ease.  We made Cade tell us 3 adjectives after our hour and he replied excited, educational, and accomplished. He said he thinks he did "alright" and needs to work on stopping more gracefully.

Fall ball is here!

It's our favorite time of year!  Dirty uniforms, muddy cleats, smelly car rides filled with boys after practice, and screaming for our Coogs as they play other teams.  Cade was excited to start football on the Freshman team tonight with a scrimmage.  Charles caught the game while I went to Open House at TJHS with Caelin.  Cade has started playing Defensive tackle as well as O-line this year, so we shall see where the season takes him.  My prayer is that he continues to love the sport and he builds his character above all else.  It's gonna be a great season!

Lake Conroe with Harroff's

There are only a few things better than a day on the lake with friends.  We are grateful for the fellowship, sunshine, and laughter!

1st Day of School

We now have a 7th grader and a Freshman in our house.  The day started quite early as we did pictures at 5:45am and then they walked out the door for the bus at 6:05am.  I am thankful they are on the same school bus this year in case anything happens. Both said the day went well, they liked all their teachers, and athletics is looking like their favorite class, ha!  Of course we are going crazy with school supply lists, fees for classes, lunch money, forms for signatures, etc.  With both of them at new schools this year (Caelin at Tomball Junior High and Cade at Tomball High), there was a little bit of added stress regarding new buildings and making sure you know where to go.  Thankfully, the campuses had several opportunities to walk the campus and find classes ahead of time.  We are excited to see them both mature this year and excel in their electives.  Will this be the year they actually use a planner?  Will this be the year we dont argue about homework?  Will this be the year they start to understand why teachers do the things they do?  We shall see, lol.  May this year be a year of spiritual, social, emotional, and academic growth all around!

Driving Permit and Bank Account

Cade was thrilled today as he was able to do 2 very grown up things.  First, we had an appointment with Bank of America to set up a bank account in his name.  We were excited for this and feel it will really start helping him manage money and have more financial responsibility.  It is hard to believe, but I know we need to start preparing him for being on his own in 4 years after high school.  He deposited all his cash and a check from Nana that he got for his birthday, so his starting balance was $400.  Now he can use his debit card to purchase his own items if needed and we can easily transfer fund to pay for things if needed.  He was pumped to get his own "card"!  Next, we had an appointment at the DPS to get his driving permit.  I am still in shock we have made it to this point and not ready to accept the fact that he is learning to drive and will technically be able to drive himself around in a year from now.  This is by far the most terrifying thing thus far as a parent.  I just keep praying that God will keep him safe when behind the wheel of any vehicle.  All in all, it was a GREAT day for Cade and mixed emotions for us.
