Houston Rodeo

Did I mention the Rodeo is a big deal in Houston?  Hehehe, so today we ventured downtown to partake in the fun!  Cade said he was looking forward to the tractors and Caelin said she wanted to see the baby animals.  We started out in Kid Country where the kids got to learn a day on the farm.  Their favorite part was caching in their money for a treat.  Cade went for the fruit roll-up, and Caelin had her eye on the cheese crackers.  Next, we moved on to the petting zoo part.  Cade of course has always loved this part and ran right in talking to all the animals.  Caelin was much more reserved since most of the animals were her size.  She did NOT like the goat that kept chewing on my shirt.  She screamed at it, and when it turned around and looked at her, she ran the other way straight to Daddy's arms!  Ha!  She did however warm up once she spotted the baby animals.  This year they had the usual goat, deer, chickens, sheep, llama and pig.  I was surprised to see some new animals like the donkey, calf, and kangaroo.  After that, we moved on to the rides.  Cade picked the swings (our adventure kid), and Caelin was SO EXCITED to ride the PINK elephant.  What I learned was Caelin had the height, but due to age, I had to squeeze in and ride the elephant with her.  AND THEN, some poor Mom couldn't ride with her daughter due to a newborn, so I invited our new friend Rachel to ride with us.  It was such an honor to squeeze into a pink elephant with two 2 year olds.  Of course the day wasn't complete without seeing all the big animals inside and seeing the birthing center with the baby animals.  Finally, we had to have a funnel cake.  I am not sure the kids have ever had a funnel cake, but it was a BIG hit!  I think it was gone in 2 minutes flat.  It was a great day with perfect weather again to be outdoors in Texas.  After the Zoo yesterday and the Rodeo today, I think we will be sleeping in and having a pajama morning tomorrow.

On a side note, I would like to say that BOTH kids made it through the Zoo and Rodeo adventures with no potty accidents!!  I hope I am not jinxing it, but I think we are on the downhill ride of potty training!
