She did it! After 17 MONTHS of saving her monies, Caelin saved up $385 to buy herself a Nintendo Switch Console. It was quite the ongoing lesson to learn that it is not just the console itself ($300), but also a memory card ($25), insurance plan ($35), and taxes ($25). She was smart and asked Nana for the carrying case and Gamee/Grampee for her first game (Minecraft) so that she would not have to buy those when ready. She also worked VERY hard on "publishing" some books to sell to family and friends for $2 per copy. Her first book and most popular so far is "The Book of Kindness" which is based on a true story of one of her friends sticking up for her when Caelin had pink eye at school. She used Google slides to write her books and then edit them with us before printing copies to sell. When she realized she had finally collected enough money, she started crying right away and ran to my arms. What a blessing it is to see your child overwhelmed with pride and cry in your arms with joy! These are the moments I will NEVER forget in parenting. There are just no words to express how proud we are of her for starting to save on her 8th birthday until now. When it was time to purchase, she delicately counted out the entire sum (Yes, we accepted a lot of coins as well, ha!) out and assisted with the online purchase. Now she will just have to wait for it to arrive. Congratulations to our precious angel for this HUGE accomplishment. The sky is the limit for you Caelin Roe!
