Recognition
It
is hard to write things about yourself without feeling like you are
bragging. However, as I look back on the
purpose of this blog…it has always been for Cade and Caelin. Everything in these blog books over the years
hopefully allow them to see the good, the trying, the tears, and the grace we
need daily in all areas of our lives.
Just like I never want to shield them 100% of painful moments, I want
them to see the good that life brings in the simple times as well. So, here I go feeling like I am “bragging”,
but it is for the purpose of reminding Cade/Caelin that people around you do
see your hard work and grit. Klein ISD
has never been just a “job” to me over these last 20 years. My work has brought many many MANY tears, but
every tear truly could be tied back to a student in need or something I could
do more to advocate for the kids I serve.
Over the course of 20 years, I have had the privilege to serve as a life
skills teacher, Diagnostician, Special Education ARD Specialist, Special
Education Coordinator, and for the last 5 years a Behavior Coordinator for
General Education. Since there is only myself
and now a small team of 7 Specialists for a district of 50K students, it can be
very lonely and feel defeating at times. I have driven home many nights thinking that
the rest of the district staff truly have no idea what our small but mighty
team gets accomplished each day. To be
honored as the Employee of the year for my department was not only a shock, but
very humbling. It was a reminder from
God that others SEE what you do. So, as
honored as I am, I hope this serves as a reminder that God and others around
you will see and notice the good work you do.
Grandma Watts always said, “If a job’s worth doing, it’s worth doing
right.”
