Our princess turns 8 months

Oh how I wish sometimes that time would stand still. I wish I could hang on to the tight little hug of Cade or that sweet slobber smile of Caelin forever. As we all know, that is just not possible. In fact, I realize even more now with children, just how fast life passes by us each. It is just not fair. I try to tell myself that I have so much to look forward to and watching her be successful in so many things, but that just doesn't work. I still tear up thinking this could be "the last" of something. This past month was a busy one for Caelin. She seems to be growing taller as I notice that many clothes are starting to get too small. She is still very slim and wearing 6-9 month clothes. Her hair is getting a little longer so we can clip small bows to it for at least a quick photo. I am waiting ANY day now, but still no teeth! She is never fussy, so we check her mouth every few days because I am not sure we would ever know if she was teething! She still sleeps about 11 hours at night and an average of 2- 1hr naps during the day. She now eats about 26 oz of breastmilk, 5 oz of pureed foods with rice cereal, and snacks daily. She loves the baby rice husks (beware Moms...this is MESSY), puffs, etc. She is eating her foods better now and seems to almost prefer the food over the bottle at times. I love to watch her now wave "hello" at those who will wave at her. It looks kinda like she is beating a drum with her right hand. She will laugh when I clap and say "yeah", but has not quite yet figured out she can use her hands to clap and do the same thing. I think she will figure this out in the next few days. Biggest news...Daddy is claiming that she is saying "Dada", although it sounds like babbling to me! So, we are currently both attempting to brainwash her into saying "mama/dada" first. She thinks we are crazy and usually laughs at us! Caelin LOVES to watch Cade play. She enjoys it when Cade talks to her or even better hugs or kisses her. The way those two interact is hillarious. I see a little bit of jealousy sometimes if Caelin has one of his toys (we are working on sharing...not an easy thing to master for Cade), but 90% of the time, he is totally smitten by her. Caelin's favorite toys include toys that have cause/effect lights or sounds. She will laugh when she hits it and it lights up. She is such a smarty pants. Of course, we are still HOOKED to our pacifier. She will reach and fall over trying to grab that thing! And last but not least, we have mastered our tripod sit and are getting belly time everyday. If assisted, we can stand up and will bounce on our legs. I think she may be a dancer. Perhaps in the next few months we will see an army crawl coming out!
We are so proud of you Caelin and all everything this month has brought. You are such a positive and sweet spirit. We "lub u Caelin baelin Roe"!

Happy National Pig Day!

I must admit that until I married Charles, I never knew what March 1st was. However, anyone who knows Gamee knows SHE LOVES PIGS! It goes way back to her childhood and she keeps the tradition alive yearly as we celebrate National Pig Day. So, oink oink everyone!

Cruisin' with my "Bestie"

Thanks to an AMAZING HUBBY, I was able to finally do a cruise with my BFF of over 25 years! We had been trying to do this again since college and it has never worked out due to scheduling...UNTIL NOW! Carpe Diem I guess is our motto. So, just Lizzy and I ventured on a 5 day/4 night cruise to Cozumel, Mexico. We had ssoooooo much fun catching up, laying out, getting bad tan lines, sipping fruity drinks, dancing, gambling, watching karaoke, dressing up for nice dinners each night with Caroline and Susie (our dinner friends), pampering ourselves at the Spa, taking funny pics everywhere we went, and of course EATING. The highlight of our trip was the port day in Cozumel. We got off the ship, shopped a little, and then met up with our guide who took us to a powerboat adventure! Once we survived the interesting cab ride "off the beaten path", we arrived at a beautiful place. It had a private pool with swim up bar, crocodiles (which they fed raw chicken for us), a salsa bar so we could make our own salsa, and beach access where we got to drive our own speedboats in the ocean! I am not sure what to say about the boats....but they were AWESOME! We cruised super fast taking turns driving and attempting lots of sharp turns. At one point we even had to switch boats with the tour guide cause our boat started to slow down a bit. Pretty sure that boat will never be the same! Lizzy also decided to create a tidal wave and then drive through it...so when finally arrived back at the main beach, we were the only wet people. I guess we were they only crazy ones, but we were laughing pretty hard. Neither of us will ever forget our amazing adventures among the Carnival Triumph and Cozumel, Mexico! Cheers to the World's Best Friend, good times, and our lives as they continue to grow each year!

Movin' In

I was recently blessed with the oppurtunity to take over Ehrhardt Elementary as its newest Principal. I understood that there was a lot of work that would have to be done in my new role.

I knew it was important to make sure the staff knew that I appreciated them and looked forward to working with them for a long time to come. We came up with the great idea to give each of the staff members a sticky note pad that said "I'm sticking with you." They all loved it. Of course I got some much needed help with the project. Stacy did the labels and my parents helped watch the kids as Stacy and I went to every office to hand out the post-its the evening before my first day. It was a long night, but definately worth it.

One thing that I was not prepared for was outfitting and decorating an office. I am definately one of THOSE guys when it comes to decorating. I was perfectly happy with my desk, bookshelf, and table. I had some pictures of the family on the bookshelf and some framed prints on the wall. I was content. Thankfully my wonderful wife and loving mother decided to intervene and gave me some decorating help. I am sure that I frustrated them several times, but they stuck with me and helped me decorate. I am now the proud owner of several pieces of wall art, an entry table, and decorative lamps. In the end the office is looking great. The teachers continue to give compliments. Thank you Stacy and Mom for sticking with me and helping me!
