There is no better way to spend a beautiful Saturday than with family in the country. We started our day in search of bluebonnets, but when that didn't pan out, we moved on to lunch at Beaver's Kitchen in Chappell Hill. We decided to reroute and head out to Washington on the Brazos State Park. This is where the Texas Declaration of Independence was signed March 2, 1836. They had a live museum going on, so the kids were able to see people dressed up and explaining various trades of the time period. My favorite was looking inside the church like structure that was where the declaration was signed. I always wonder if any of the men thought about what Texas would be like in 150 years and if they knew the significance of what they were doing. We were also able to go inside the Star of Republic Museum and Barrington Farms. Barrington Farms was a unique experience as it is a real working farm, so we were able to explore the grounds, homes, and animals. It was a great day of smiles, wondering around holding hands, shopping in downtown Chappell Hill, and laughs. Just a beautiful day!
