It was an early morning with leaving the house at 3:00am in order to make the 5:30am flight. Everything went smoothly at the airport and with the connecting flight. When we arrived in Bozeman, Montana we grabbed our Kia 5 car and off we went on a scenic mountain drive through Montana and into Idaho. We were excited to see the town of West, Montana. This is where the west entrance to Yellowstone is and about 20 min north of our cabin in Island Park, ID. The town of West reminded me a lot of Ruidoso, NM with a rustic downtown feel and beautiful mountain scenery in the back. We ate great BBQ at Firehole BBQ and shopped around town. It was a beautiful 62 degrees and sunny. Not hot or cold at all...just perfect! After a quick trip to visitor center to purchase a National Park pass ($80) and gather some maps/brochures, we headed to the grocery store for water, breakfast, and snacks. We then headed to our cabin in Island Park. The cabin is small, but perfect for our needs. The kids love their own loft area with queen beds...so that was a hit! After unpacking, we headed to dinner at Trout Hunters. The river running out back was stunning. It was a great day, but man we are tired!
