Years ago, Sis gave me a great idea for our family during the month of November. It is called a THANKful Pumpkin. Each year we buy a white pumpkin and then starting on November 1st everyone writes something they are thankful for on the pumpkin each day. I love watching the pumpkin get messy with everyone's writing, giggling at the smaller things, and realizing how truly thankful we are for the people and not the "things" in this life. As with human nature, so often we cling to objects or things that money can buy. In the quiet moments, when the "things" are stripped away, we learn quite quickly what really matters. I never imagined that 2015 would strip me of my Daddy and my life would change forever without warning. Even almost 8 years later, I hear his voice saying, "Enjoy the things, but love the people. MTD." Life is the people. Life is the relationships. Life is the love we give to others. Of all the things I pray our kids never forget as time marches on, it is to be thankful for the things, but love others well.
