San Francisco!
Today was quite the day! We hit the ground running early with breakfast before tackling our list of sights to see in San Francisco. First off was Hawk Hill and Battery Construction 129. Both were uncompleted areas during the war and used by our military to monitor the Pacific Ocean during war time. It was fascinating and provided beautiful views to the Golden Gate Bridge. Next up was the top spot at Battery Spencer. This provided the best pictures (we took a lot), and we left locks that Gamee/Grampee gave us to place there for their 50th Wedding Anniversary and to commemorate our family trip. After that, we drove on across the Golden Gate bridge to the town of Sausalito. This was one of my favorite places so far. The weather was perfect and we were able to shop along the ocean with some of the best views. Franco coffee had the very best chai tea and lattes. Before we left Sausalito, we went to Bar Bocce for a late lunch where we had a variety of salads and sandwiches. As if our day had not been packed enough, we continued to tackle more sights. We drove the eclectic area of Haight & Ashbury Streets, saw the Full House house, stopped in at a comic book store called Comix Experience, laid in the grass at Alamo Park to stare at the Painted Ladies house, and then drove down Lombard Street. Lombard Street surprised me with just how curvy it was and then we stopped at the bottom of the hill to snag a few pictures. To end our big day, we parked the car back at the hotel before heading out to explore Pier 39, chowing down on a funnel cake, and walking to the "K" dock to see the sea lions showing off. We ended the night with dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe. Whew, I am tired just writing all that! Tomorrow will be fun with the Cable Car Museum and Alcatraz.
