Spring Break

We had an amazing Spring Break, packed with events. We had no real plans going into the week, which actually made it even better! We had purchased some good deals for places to go on Spring Break, but woke up late each morning (ok, about 8:30am...but that is LATE!) not knowing what the day would hold. So, during the week we saw 2 movies ("Lorax" and "Alvin and the Chipmunks"), went to "It'z" twice, planted flowers for the Spring, took dinner to Gamee/Grampee since Gamee had surgery on her knee, went to the rodeo, played with our neighbors Ricky and Hana (this was LONG overdue...we miss them), and enjoyed a visit from my BFF from High School (Jeff and his beautiful wife and 3 daughters). It was a busy, but surprisingly relaxing week. It just makes me want summer that much more! Thank you God for jobs in education (although our jobs are not easy) where we have time off with our kids!

It's Houston Rodeo Time!

Today we decided to take the family to the Houston Rodeo! We are still working our way up to the actual Rodeo and concert. For now, we are all content with going and seeing the animals in the petting zoo (BTW, Cade, the animals do not want to eat what they just pooped out), Mutton Bustin, Kid Farm, Pig Races with the swimming pig, and the Livestock Show in the Reliant Center. Cade had a great time petting the animals and running around. It was funny watching Cade get so excited. He didn't know where to start! Although only two years old he was ready to do some Mutton Busting. He just doesn't understand what it means to wait 4 more years...imagine that! Worst part is that you have to stay under 60lbs. So, maybe if we do not gain 20 lbs in the next 4 years, he can actually do it. Something tells me our big man will outweigh the limit by then! As for Caelin she never slept and just took everything in. She just "people watched" in her perfect manner and laughed when we would look at her. She learned this past week to really wave back, so we are enjoying interacting with her. She has such a sweet and patient disposition. All in all it was a great day with the family, and we look forward to next year!

Seeing the world through MY OWN EYES

Since the age of 2, I have worn glasses or contacts. My world has never been seen clearly through my OWN eyes. I am grateful everyday for what contacts and glasses have given me thus far. Although I must say, the world is different through my OWN eyes. As corny as it may sound, I am so blessed for this gift of a lifetime. I have noticed in the last 48 hours that I no longer have to follow the lights on my uverse box or alarm system to feel the walls on the way to the bathroom at night. I no longer have to fumble to get glasses to see the video monitor for my babies at night, I do not have to arrange my shampoo/conditioner so that I grab the right one while showering, I can play with Caelin at night without her grabbing my glasses off my face, and more importantly...I can read my Bible without shoving it in my face! So many of us take the gift of sight for granted, and I could never express what Lasik has meant to me. It is truly one of the biggest blessings I have ever had. The gift is even sweeter because my parents paid for it! Thank you Mom and Dad for the best gift anyone could have given me.

I must comment here about the procedure itself and the staff at LasikPlus on Buffalow Speedway. AMAZING! On Saturday alone, they performed 19 Lasik Surgeries. They were kind, compasionate, and SO ACCOMODATING! Ever little detail was explained to me and my family was able to watch the entire thing. The Doctors talk to you and I never felt rushed. The entire procedure took about 15 minutes between both stations. I went home and napped for about 3 hours after the procedure, and I could already see a MASSIVE difference upon waking up! Then after dinner and sleeping the night, I woke up the following morning and had 20/15 vision at my follow-up apt. I am posting pics they allowed me to take below.

Remember, I am so self conscience about my glasses. Because my vision is so bad (900's), I just have never felt comfortable in my glasses, that is one reason why I have had contacts for over 20 years! However, I am posting pics with my glasses (sigh) because I know it is the last time! Thank you God for the expertise in the medical field to provide this, the opportunity for me to be a candidate, and for the financial help form Mom and Dad!

Matthew 11: 4-6 " Jesus told them, "Go back to john and tell him what you have heard and seen- the blind shall see, the lame walk, the lepers are cursed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised to life, and the Good News is being preached to the poor. And tell him, 'God blesses those who do not turn away because of me'".

Weekend with the Cousins!

We had a fun filled weekend with my sister and her family! All 4 cousins enjoyed being active and playing together. Nothing says CRAZY quite like 4 kids (3 kids being 2.5yrs or younger)! We ventured to "Itz" for lunch and afternoon fun, then attempted to go home for nap time. Of course only 1 of the 4 even took a nap (Cade). Even Caelin at 8 months stayed up ALL DAY with the exception of a 15 minute nap on the car ride home! I think she was afraid she might miss the action. After Cade woke up, we had some fun at the Park/Playground and then cooked out sausage wraps in the backyard. It was a fun filled day and everyone slept good that night! I wish our families lived closer than 2.5 hours so the kids could see each other more. But, we are doing better about trips together now that the "little" ones are growing up!
