Halloween

Halloween was a great one this year and the first time that it hadn't rained Halloween night in 3 years.  We painted/carved our pumpkins a few days prior while reading "Room on the Broom" as with tradition.  Caelin painted her pumpkin with a smiley face on one side and an angel on the other while Cade had Daddy help carve his into a face and then put one of his pocket knives in the side of it.  I guess that pretty much sums up the girl vs boy decoration of pumpkins, ha!  After school on Halloween night, the kids wanted to go trick or treating right away, but we did our best to get dinner squeezed in before heading to meet up with neighbors and friends in a nearby culdesac. Cade was a Redcat Football player and wore his uniform.  I especially loved how all the boys had decided to use pillowcases to collect candy this year.  Caelin was Alex Morgan with the US girls soccer team. Both looked great and had such a great time. They cracked me up as while we were trick or treating, the kids organized a group to come to our house for a "candy trade".  It was exactly as it sounds, and the kids sat around the kitchen table while negotiating and trading candy together. The adults stood around laughing until it was time to wrap up the evening. We finished the evening handing out candy for another 45 minutes.  I would say the day was a success as no one had any problems falling asleep after such a busy day! Ha!

Cousin weekend!

We had such a busy and fun weekend. Mendy, Kennybug and Jax came into town on Saturday for a Soccer game that Kennybug had and we made sure to make the most of our time. Saturday morning was filled with Soccer for Caelin and Football for Cade.  As soon as our games were over, we headed to watch Kennybug play her soccer game with the Texans.  We loved starting our day filled with sports for everyone. Afterward, we went to a Trunk or Treat in downtown Magnolia followed by some live music at Lone Pint Brewery. Charles was so excited to see that they had the axe throwing competition back. Of course he entered while the rest of us had a great time dancing, playing, and people watching. We were so excited after 4 rounds to hear that Charles won!  He was most excited to sign the bulls-eye target board and get a souvenir axe.  I guess we will be coming back more often so he can defend his title.  To celebrate, we went to Blue Iguana for dinner which is our favorite.  When we got home, everyone relaxed while Kennybug and I made scones for Sunday morning. We were so blessed to have them in town with us and were sad to see them leave Sunday morning.  These little moments remind us to treasure every minute together when we can.
