Boots and Bunco

Our 3rd year of Bunco got started at our house with a "Boots and Bunco" theme.  Gamee helped made her infamous cookies, and made them into boots.  They were perfect and the star of the show.  I love every minute with this group of ladies.  God blessed me with a genuine and loving group of friends.  We laugh harder each month than I ever thought possible!

Marathon #26

EVERY year I am just amazed at Grampee! Today, he finished his 26th consecutive Houston Marathon! It was a bit different with Covid, so he ran as through mapped out areas of neighborhoods and parks. We cheered him on and his finish line had all of us yelling as he ran through a banner. He even beat last years time by 14 minutes! The amount of training each year, determination, grit, and mindset is beautiful to see. Way to go Grampee!

Papa's Birthday

Happy 72nd birthday to our Daddy/Papa. It is hard to believe we have celebrated your birthday 6 years without you. Not a day goes by that I do not think of you. To celebrate YOU, I did some of your favorite things. I spoiled 3 people with surprises "just because", talked to a stranger and walked away with a new friend, and we made cappuccino blasts. Happy BD Daddy, thank you for showing me that life is about the "little things".

Girl's Prayer Weekend

One thing I am working on this year is being intentional for ME time.  This is difficult when you are a Mom, wife, boss, and so many other titles.  Learning that you cannot pour from an empty cup is not easy...but I need to be intentional.  For this reason, I said yes.  Yes to a girls prayer weekend.  The 6 of us bonded through prayer, shared struggles, laughed A LOT, and took the weekend to set our goals for the 2021 year.  I am so thankful for Charles being on kid duty so that I could have this time.  I feel recharged and ready to tackle 2021!

Happy New Year & Welcome to 2021

Some days I honestly thought 2020 would never end.  It is hard to put into words what 2020 was for our family. It was filled with joy, drawing closer, and also lots of fear and challenges.  I recall several times how I reminded myself that God purposely gave me the word BALANCE for 2020 knowing all along what challenges we would face.  God knew that balancing life with a Pandemic, virtual school/jobs, zoom calls, masks, etc was not going to be easy.  It was a year of strange feelings and new experiences for sure. When I reflect back on the past few years and the words I held close to my heart, I see how God weaves things to help me grow. 2018 was choosing JOY, 2019 was drawing CLOSER, and 2020 was all about BALANCE. For this year, the word INTENTIONAL was laid on my heart. Once you are able to choose joy, stay in his word, and are aware of what needs to be balanced in your life...then I feel being intentional is the next step. Intentional is all about being deliberate in your choices and having a goal with small attainable steps. The verse that I chose to focus on is Philippians 3:14: "I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me Heavenward in Christ Jesus."  Will I always do things correct? Of course not.  Will I continue to ask myself if I am being intentional with my decision making? Of course.  Will I grow in faith by striving to be intentional? Absolutely. As we welcome in a new year, new beginnings, and new goals...I will be striving to be more INTENTIONAL each day.
