Heaven gained an Angel

Aunt Linda has been a constant in my life growing up even though we did not see each other often. I always looked forward to visiting her and the family every other Christmas growing up in Indianapolis. She always made sure that we felt welcomed and were comfortable. There was always a warm bed to sleep in and good food. Of course you also knew that you would get to hear her and Mumps sing.  Plus, she helped share in a couple of my firsts. It was at her home that I announced I was going to ask Stacy to be my wife. Also, it was her home that after getting married we visited for Christmas while Stacy was pregnant with Cade. She was nothing but gracious, kind, and encouraging to all she met.  Thank you for being apart of my life and my family's. You will be missed Aunt Linda.  - Charles

Obituary: 

Linda LeCour Snapp took her first breath in Heaven at 3:52pm on September 12, 2021. She was born in Houston, Texas, on September 10, 1952 to Donald and Betty LeCour. She was the oldest of four daughters (now known as the “Goddesses”): Linda, Donna, Cindy, Laura.

During high school, Linda performed in several musicals and had a beautiful singing voice, which led her to study Performance Vocal Music at Doane University. Although Linda loved to sing, she became aware that her true passion was in caring for others. Linda studied nursing at Indiana State University where she earned her AD, BS, and MS degrees and then worked at Union Hospital where she eventually advanced to the position of Clinical Director of OB/Peds/NICU and Labor & Delivery. Linda said this of her nursing career: “I am blessed to be able to share personal and intimate moments in people’s lives from birth to death and everything in between. The permission to touch people - literally touch them - is special. I hope my touch provides healing. The patients always gave me far more than I could ever give to them.” Linda’s final post during her 37-year nursing career was at AET as the Health and Wellness Manager (aka the “Heart of HR”), retiring in 2017.

Linda was a wonderful mother to three children, Donald Paul (wife Teresa), David Alan, and Elizabeth Esther (husband Nick). She loved her children with all of her heart, and was always proud of their individual accomplishments in life, including their greatest one of all: giving her the name “Grammy.” Linda had five biological grandchildren that she loved dearly: Isaac, Ethan (who precedes Linda in death), Jacob, Kinlyn, and Elam.

Linda met the love of her life, Jim Snapp, on a blind date at a local Dairy Queen in 1994. Because both of them had poor luck with blind dates in the past, they agreed to meet at a local DQ. (Just in case it didn’t work out they wouldn’t have invested a lot of time!) Luckily, the date went well and Jim and Linda went on to marry on July 6, 1996 in a country chapel near Pigeon Forge. Jim and Linda were able to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary with a visit to DQ this July. The marriage brought Linda 2 grown children: Chris (wife Brandie) and Stacy (husband Loren), and later 5 step-grandchildren (Cody, Brittany, Kelsie, Macie and great-granddaughter, Ella). She was also blessed to be considered a God-Grandparent to Ashree and Aadya.

Linda was a lifetime follower of Christ and went on three mission trips to spread the word and love of Christ. Her first trip was in 2010 to Guatemala with Christ Community Church. Her two most recent trips were with World Gospel Church: Dominican Republic (2018) and Pele Wala, Africa (2020). She had a passion for helping the underserved and was looking forward to her next trip.

Linda will be missed deeply by all those that knew her.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Oct 2nd at World Gospel Church in Terre Haute, Indiana. Visitation will be from 2-3pm; Service from 3-4pm, followed by dinner at 4:30pm. The family respectfully asks that you are vaccinated before attending and stay home if you feel ill. Masks are encouraged for all but required for anyone who is unable to receive a COVID-19 vaccine.
