Lynn Canyon Falls and Granville Island

We definitely were happy to sleep in till about 9am this morning.  Once we all had our breakfast, we took a short drive to Lynn Canyon to see the Twin Falls, Suspension Bridge and the 30ft Pool. We enjoyed the scenic hikes to get to each spot and the shade of trees kept everything pretty cool. Charles and the kids were MUCH braver than I was and got in the pool. I am not sure how cold the water was, but basically being a melted glacier means it was not like a sauna.  Since I was cold just hiking in shorts, the water was definitely not happening for me! We grabbed some somewiches, fruit, and a vegetable box before getting in the car to head to Granville Island. The area was packed with it being Canada Day (like our July 4th), but it was nice because the people were in full force, flags everywhere and live bands on the decks. We walked the shops and bought different kind of nuts, a Canada shirt that Caelin had been looking for, and a few last minute souvenirs. The best part for me was shopping all the local market vendors. The food was all so fresh and vibrant.  For dinner, we decided to buy some fresh foods to take back to the condo and cook while packing. We purchased fresh clam chowder, cherries, cheese/crackers, cheese and spinach pastries, salmon quiche, and crab cakes for dinner. We even got some bagels and pastries for breakfast.  On our way out of the market, we finally bought some traditional "poutine" (fries, gravy, cheese curds) to try while we sat outside by the harbor and listened to the live music. It was different and was french fries covered in brown gravy (like Thanksgiving) and cheese.  Once back at the condo, we spent the evening packing, cooking dinner, and relaxing before heading to Washington tomorrow.
