Hurricane Beryl

Hurricane Beryl's eye hit Matagorda Bay and Houston area on July 8th around 4am as a Category 1 Hurricane.  It developed in the Atlantic on June 28th and intensified to a Cat 5 hurricane quickly due to the abnormally warm Atlantic waters this time of year.  The storm broke a few records including the earliest Cat 5 hurricane in the Atlantic, first Cat 4 hurricane ever recorded in June, and producing the most tornado warnings in a single day.  Beryl was not originally planned to come the path it did, so Houston area received a little bit of a surprise in the last few days.  Before Beryl made landfall on the Texas coast as a Category 1, it slammed through Carriacou, the Cayman Islands, Jamaica, and the Yucatan Pennisula.  We are extremely blessed to have a whole home generator, which allowed us to also have Gamee and Grampee stay with us.  Most of our area was without power for 5-7 days while Centerpoint Energy did their best to remove down trees and fix all these power lines.  I am thankful for a community that works together when things like this arise.  We are hoping this is not an indication of what this Hurricane season will bring.
