Spring Break in Lubbock, TX (PART 2)

Thursday: I dislike that our trip is coming to an end. Yesterday was one of my favorite days this trip! We spent the day with my Mom's family visiting McAdoo/Spur where they grew up. The highlight was visiting the old school house where my Grandma went. I was very close to her and Caelin's middle name is after her (Roe, for Robena). We got a kick out of seeing the old classrooms, stage, uniforms, and her old wooden locker! The kids laughed about the water fountains, old desks, rubber stamps, playing teacher, and they even used the "small white chalk". After that we took a trip out to Spur where we took a picture on top of the "city" (one street really). Charles even found mistletoe up there, ha! After getting back in town we were able to meet up for dinner with my Dad's other brother Uncle Don and Aunt Parks. The kids got spoiled with gifts and books (their favorite) and we had such a good time. There is something to be said for the healing of the heart when you are able to connect with family. Such a fun filled day and trip!
Friday: After sleeping in a bit, we grabbed breakfast, visited Daddy one last time, and then headed back to Round Rock.  It has truly been a great trip and more fun than we could have ever imagined. Nana had a blast and I loved having her with us the entire time.  Spring Break 2016 was a huge success!
One of the coolest things we did throughout our trip was make a genealogy book with the kids.  Each of them had their own book with pictures of their great grandparents.  We talked about where they lived, went to their houses, did rubbings on their tombstones, had scavenger hunts in the different cemeteries, filled out a genealogy tree, and then completed a survey of the week.  I loved seeing their answers and watching them get to meet family.  It was such a great trip.  I hope they cherish their books always!
