Christmas

This year was different than anticipated when Cindy and I both tested positive for Covid just before Christmas.  Grampee and the rest of the family continued to remain negative, but with us being positive, we had to stay away from the rest of the family.  We did our best to celebrate as the 6 of us, but we sure did miss Christopher, Heather, and the rest of the Hall's.  On Christmas Eve, we finished our advent calendars, made ornaments, said goodbye to Jingle, watched the Christmas Eve candlelight service on TV, ate delicious green chili enchiladas, made Reindeer gingerbread, sprinkled oats for the reindeer, opened 1 present (The kids were excited to get HeyDude shoes), and then Charles read "T'was the Night Before Christmas.  After that, we were counting the minutes until Santa would come as we all headed to bed.

Christmas Day started early with the joy of Santa and smiles from the kids.  Santa brought his usual "something you want, something to read, and something you need."  Cade was excited to see his mini fridge, PS4 NBA game, The Card book, Nike socks, and other small items.  Caelin smiled big when she saw her Tech Deck Skatepark and Tech Decks, Mile Morales book, Nike Socks, and snacks mixed in.  Even though we know they know the real reason for the season, it is still fun to watch the magic in their eyes and believing in something they cannot see.  I treasure these moments when we see the genuine smiles on their faces and love in their eyes.  After Santa, we enjoyed an egg casserole and cinnamon rolls for breakfast while watching the Christmas service online.  When church was over, we opened more gifts and spent the afternoon relaxing.  Cade was MOST excited for his electric Fender Bass, and Caelin loved seeing a coupon for more horse riding lessons at a friend's stable nearby.  Even Bear was spoiled with treats and a new penguin stuffed animal.  Thank you God for providing all the blessings that surrounded today and for our continuing health as we grow stronger while ill.  May we always remember that silent night when our Savior was born. - Luke 2
