The Grouse Grind

Since we all got in bed a little later, we slept in till around 8:15am knowing we would be climbing Grouse Mountain.  The hike was the most challenging that Charles and I have ever done.  It was 2,624 feet up and straight stair climbs. Although it was only about 2 miles up, it took us 2.5 hours which is said to be the average for experience hikers with a good level of fitness.  We definitely understand why they call this "Nature's Staircase".  Cade's favorite part was the challenge. It was great to see him push his body, not complain, and take the lead most of the time.  Caelin said her favorite part was having to use her whole body and climb the rocks and how proud she was of herself when it was over.  While we were on the mountain, we also watched a lumber jack show.  It was amazing to see how fast they can cut the wood. Caelin wanted to try the log roll, ha. Another hit was riding the ski lift to the tip top of mountain, and eating dinner on the mountain. We loved spending the day on the mountain and then rode the Gondola down.  Back at the condo, we rested a bit before heading out to get ice cream at the T&T grocery store. We laughed as we decided to buy some dumplings as well for a snack. What a day we will always remember and talk about!
