Caelin's Dick and Jane Birthday Party

We decided to go with a vintage Dick and Jane party for Caelin's 2nd Birthday.  I just love the look and feel of vintage toys and we laughed at how much Caelin looks like the little sister Sally (see pic on invitation).  So, off we went with the planning and making of decor!  We purchased old books from resale book shops and Ebay to make the party gifts, banners, wreath, framed decor and more.  I actually had fun searching and making things.  Gamee volunteered to make the cake again and I always love the surprise of seeing the cake for the first time at their parties.  Gamee found a Dick and Jane dress online and then added some red trim to it so that she was perfectly dressed for her party.  Grampee even joined in by refinishing their old radio flyer wagon.  He even bought the original logo sticker for the sides of the wagon!  At the party we served Lemonade out of mason jars and enjoyed cake/ice cream.  The kids played  games such as hot potato (all though it looked a bit more like a dodge ball game) and bean bag toss while eating Cracker Jacks.  The adults also enjoyed a candy guessing game where Grampee won the jar of M&M's with the closest guess.  Cade first sang the Birthday song to Caelin as a solo and then invited everyone to join him as he conducted the singing.  We had a good laugh at him, but couldn't keep our eyes off the Birthday girl as she proudly blew out her candles.  She was not even shy at all!  My favorite part was Caelin opening up gifts.  She was much more active this year throwing the cards and tissue paper aside to see her treasures.  She was blessed with so many cute gifts such as her first Barbie (Uncle Christopher/Aunt Heather), apple charm for her James Avery bracelet (Blevins' Fam), life-vest and pool toys (Nana/Papa), Doll House with all the goodies (Gamee/Grampee), bubbles/Mega blocks/3 books/stuffed giraffe (Cousin Stephen), college fund money (Cousins Robb & RB), talking picnic basket set (The Leonard's), My Little Pony (Pagnozzi Fam), and a baby doll/stroller (Nonnie/Poppie).  For party favors, everyone got a wallet sized photo of Caelin, the kids received "Whirly Pops" and each family got a vintage Dick and Jane book with a note from Caelin with her handprint inside.  All the details came together nicely, and it was a special day to remember.  We still can't believe our little Princess is two, we love you so much Caelin Roe!
